USING SEARCH TERMS

Be careful to spell words correctly

The search function will not work if you spell words incorrectly. If this occurs, the search engine may give you an alternative suggestion.

Keep it simple

No matter what you're looking for, try to start with a simple search. You can always add a few descriptive words if necessary.

Refine your search by adding additional words

Our search engine looks for pages or documents containing all the words entered in your search. This enables you to refine your search by adding additional words. For example, you may enter the word "portable" as well as "x-ray".

Broaden your search

By default, our search engine looks for pages or documents based on the contract you are visiting.

You can broaden your search by selecting another contract or the “ALL” tab.

Use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase

Use quotes to search for an exact word or set of words on a web page. But only use this if you're looking for an exact word or phrase, otherwise you'll exclude many helpful results by mistake. EXAMPLE: "Claim Identifier Tool" will only return results with that phrase.

Using dashes to exclude specific results:

When: when you want to exclude certain items from your results.
How: "QUERYNAMEHERE -EXCLUDEDTERM"
Example: CERT -Checklist would bring back results for CERT, but exclude anything including the word checklist.

Fill in the blank

Add an asterisk within a search as a placeholder for any unknown or wildcard terms. Use with quotation marks to find variations of that exact phrase or to remember words in the middle of a phrase.

Set number of results shown on page (# / page:)

Select one of the following to increase or decrease the number of search results displayed on the returned search results page.

Sort by function

Select one of the following: Relevance | Date

Relevance shows you results that it determines are most relevant to what you searched for.
Date shows you results by date with the most recent listed first.

Autocomplete is a language prediction tool that our search engine uses to provide suggestions as you type in a query. The autocomplete menus drop down below the search bar as you type and changes with each keystroke to provide increasingly accurate predictions.
